Welcome to LaPaw Animal Hospital! We are always committed to providing the best possible care and service, and our website is now available for you twenty fours hours a day, seven days a week. We’ll be adding important information about our practice (who we are, our hours, and the services we offer), so we hope you’ll keep checking back to watch our progress!
Established by Dr. Deborah A. LaPaugh January 1, 2001. Along with Office Manager Alicia Samples, Dr. LaPaugh built a thriving animal hospital in Bend, Oregon. This up to date and newly renovated animal hospital has been voted Bend’s Best Veterinarian and Animal Hospital almost every year the local newspaper, The Source, sponsored the popular vote.
Dr. LaPaugh graduated from The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She worked in Syracuse, New York for several years before moving to Oregon. She then worked in several animal hospitals as a relief veterinarian in Portland and Central Oregon before building LaPaw Animal Hospital in Bend, Oregon. Dr. LaPaugh has special interests in surgery and exotic animals. She has 3 dogs, 1 diabetic cat at home, 3 cats at LaPaw Animal Hospital, 2 parrots, 3 rabbits and a rat. She also has chickens, turkeys and bees on the 10 acres she shares with husband Dylan.
LaPaw Animal Hospital was recently renovated and expanded to 3500 sq. ft. This includes a double surgery and dental treatment area. We have up to date equipment including digital radiography, dental radiography, ultrasound, endoscope, in-house laboratory, laser surgery, laser therapy and more.
Dr. LaPaugh added Dr. Angie Untisz to the LaPaw Animal Hospital staff in January, 2007. Dr. Angie graduated from The Ohio State University School of Veterinary medicine. Dr. Angie has many interests but her primary activity, of course, involves animals! She has 4 dogs and she works with them to successfully compete in herding competitions. Her medical interests include internal medicine and behavior, but she excels in all aspects of veterinary medicine.
Currently, the LaPaw Animal Hospital staff includes Alicia Samples, Office Manager (the real boss), Connie Evans, Certified Veterinary Technician, Lizzy Wilson, head receptionist, Michelle Leighty, technician, Chanta Spain, assistant and, of course, Dr. LaPaugh and Dr. Angie. We also bring in Dr. Robert Fuller, an experienced surgeon, on an as needed basis. During the summer and holidays Austin Bouck and Tobin Kalenbaugh help out as technician assistants.
